Frequently asked questions

What is Financial Planning?

Sound financial planning is the process of empowering you to make decisions about the four budgets you control and how you deal with the conflicts between them. Specifically:

  • how you live – at work or at leisure;
  • how you spend – now and in the future;
  • the level of insurable risk you carry personally;
  • the level of financial risk you accept.

We see the two greatest risks in life as being to die too soon; and live too long. Our role is to assess these risks in light of your personal circumstances and develop a plan accordingly. Through the main financial planning cornerstones of risk management, estate planning and wealth accumulation; we work with you to build plans that protect your wealth, your capital, your income, your livelihood, and the lifestyle of your family.

What is our role as your Financial Planner?

We are experienced professional Advisors who help you set and achieve your financial goals, whether they are short, medium or long term. Ideally we want to be your financial steward with an aim to:

  • build a thorough understanding of your needs;
  • develop individually tailored strategies that are achievable and coherent;
  • act as your mentor in order to ensure that the plan is maintained with a disciplined approach;
  • regularly review your needs, aims and objectives.

How do you charge for your services?

We work with our individual clients on a fee for service basis. After our initial meeting, and at your discretion, we will prepare and present a tailored written report called a “Statement of Advice” (SOA). The fee for the SOA will vary according to the complexity of your situation and your needs.

Within the SOA we will outline our ongoing service agreement and fee structure that will set out the annual costs of retaining our services and receiving our advice.

Do you have any special financial relationship with any provider or third party that may influence the advice I receive?

No. Principal Edge has held its own licence since 1997, effectively allowing us to select from the full range of insurance, investment, loan and superannuation providers and professional service providers. This list is reviewed regularly thereby allowing us to adapt quickly to changes in the market place.

We are proud to remain privately owned and operated without alignment to any third party, contractual or otherwise.
